Rugby is a sport for the young and the old, the tall and the short, the quick and the slightly slower. Everyone can find their place in the team and be the best in their position.

For children and parents

We welcome girls and boys into the rugby school and the youth age groups. Children train by age group (U10, U12, U14, U16 and U18) with the club's coaches at the Krtičnjak ground in the Mladost Sports Park. Youth training is based on the programme of the HERA project: nutrition, health, injury prevention and regular testing of motor skills.

More about the age groups: U14 and younger, U16, U18.

For students and adults

Mladost is a university club, a member of the sports society of the University of Zagreb, so students are especially welcome. The senior team is open to players aged 18 and over, and experience is not required. If you would rather play without contact, there is touch rugby.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to know how to play rugby?

No. We learn the rules and the technique at training, and new players are always welcome.

Is rugby for everyone?

Rugby is one of the few sports in which physical attributes are not decisive. Slim and strong, short and tall, quick and slower, everyone finds their position in the team.

How would you describe rugby to someone who has never watched it?

The closest comparison is handball: a dynamic, fast contact game. With American football, rugby shares only the shape of the ball and roughly the size of the pitch.

Where do you train?

At Krtičnjak, in the Mladost Sports Park, Jarunska ulica 5, Zagreb. See contact and location.

Can girls play?

Yes. In the youth age groups girls and boys train together, and women's senior rugby alongside Mladost is run by ŽARK Mladost.

How do you look after children's safety?

Training is adapted to each age group, and the youth programme is based on the results of the HERA project, which includes injury prevention exercises and regular monitoring of motor skills.
