About us

Who we are

The Croatian Academic Rugby Club Mladost was founded at an assembly in the great hall of the Technical Faculty in Zagreb. Since then we have been a member of the Croatian Academic Sports Society Mladost of the University of Zagreb, whose name we proudly carry together with all the other Mladost clubs.

The club is a sports association of citizens, though we would rather call ourselves a family. Players, coaches, veterans and parents train together, spend time together and share their experience, without distinction. Everyone is welcome.

A breeding ground for talent

Despite limited facilities and a modest budget, Mladost has for years been a source of players for the Croatian national team. The best among them have gone on to play in professional and university leagues abroad.

More than a club

We have been raising athletes for more than 70 years. Many of our players have become leaders and experts in their fields, in Croatia and abroad. We teach young people the core values of sport and help them grow into responsible, disciplined people of strong character and sporting spirit.

Our approach to training and education, especially in the youngest groups, is based on the results of the HERA project, which the club ran from 2022 to 2024 together with Rugby klub Ljubljana: proper nutrition, modern training methods, exercises for health and injury prevention, and periodic testing of motor skills.

Where to find us

The changing rooms, the clubhouse and the small pitch (minipitch) are in the Mladost Sports Park by the Sava embankment, while the main pitch, which we call Krtičnjak (the Molehill), is a little further on, along the eastern side of the Faculty of Kinesiology. Since 1978 the club's emblem has been a mole holding a rugby ball in one hand and raising the other with its fingers in a V.
